GRS News India : Kolkata, July 2, 2026. The 13th Grand Finale of SPELL-A-THON OLYMPIADS commenced in Kolkata on Saturday, bringing together more than 4,500 students from over 77 leading schools across Kolkata, Howrah and Hooghly. The two-day competition was held at Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School on June 27 and 28.
Founded in 2012 by eminent edupreneur Janaki Venkatramani, SPELL-A-THON OLYMPIADS, Mentored by IIM BANGALORE, has evolved into one of Eastern India’s leading English language competitions. The event focuses on assessing practical English language skills, vocabulary, grammar and comprehension rather than rote memorisation.
Alongside the Grand Finale, the organisation also hosted its 13th Anniversary Inter-School Open Single Round Competition 2026, with multiple sessions scheduled to accommodate the large number of participants.
The organisers announced that the next leg of the competition will be held on July 12th at Techno India Group Public School, Chinsurah, while the Mega Prize Distribution Ceremony is scheduled for September 27 at the National Library Auditorium, Kolkata. Winners will receive scholarships, trophies, medals and merit certificates in recognition of their academic excellence.
