GRS News India : Kolkata, 18th. April, 2025.A health talk for senior citizens was organized today at Manipal Hospital Dhakuria to spread awareness about healthy liver. Every year April 19 is observed as the World Liver Day to spread awareness about the liver diseases and to how to keep liver healthy. Dr. Debottam Bandyopadhay, Consultant Gastroenterologist, Manipal Hospital Dhakuria and Dr. Kushan Sengupta, Consultant Gastroenterologist shared their valuable feedback on liver health.
An insight on maintaining liver health, lifestyle modifications, liver diseases and its prevention was discussed with the participants. Q&A session provided a platform for all the participants so that everyone gets to know how to keep liver healthy.
As the topic for World Liver Day 2025 is “Food is Medicine,” we need to concentrate on leading a healthy lifestyle, said Dr. Debottam Bandyopadhay, a consultant gastroenterologist. Monitoring our food consumption is essential; we need to reduce junk food and incorporate more fresh fruits and vegetables into our daily diet. In order for everyone to be aware of the early signs and see a doctor as soon as possible, Dr. Bandyopadhay discussed the symptoms of liver illnesses, which include itchy skin, swelling in the legs, yellowing of the skin and urine, and persistent fatigue.”
Dr. Kushan Sengupta, a Consultant Gastroenterologist, “emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy liver for overall well-being. He stated that individuals should seek screening if they notice any unusual symptoms, as this can facilitate early diagnosis and help prevent the progression of diseases. Given the prevalence of fatty liver in contemporary society, it is essential to monitor body weight, dietary habits, and lifestyle choices to promote a healthy life.
